LeadershipLou Schweigert - President In agriculture, Lou has done it all! From milking and husking seed corn by hand, to forming partnerships and establishing relationships with some of the largest ag companies in the world, Lou has been has at the forefront of change in agriculture. Despite how some long-time ag professionals see the business, Lou tells everyone he meets that he is “bullish on agriculture” and built a company to deliver. Lou recently served as the 2009 President of the Independent Professional Seed Association (IPSA), sits on the board of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s entrepreneurial leadership council and the Board of Directors for American Bank in Cuba City, WI. Lou is also an active supporter of Cuba City high school sports and the St. Rose Church and serves on the Board of Directors of the Cuba City Economic Development Corporation Lou also enjoys woodworking, fishing, golfing and brainstorming about the future of agriculture. Lou and his wife, Sherri, live in rural Cuba City and are parents to four children, Jim, Matt, Cynthia and Joe. Jim Schweigert - Vice President, Business DevelopmentJim came back into the family business in 2003 with a focus on better linking the strengths of Gro Alliance to the needs of large and small ag businesses. He sees opportunities in Gro Alliance’s experience diversity to provide unique solutions in niche markets ignored by the large commodity companies and global ag companies while continuing its success in the seed production business. Jim is currently the Regional Vice President to Canada for the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) and previously served as ASTA's Management Skills Committee Chair. He was also honored as the 2009 Future Giant of the Seed Industry by Seed World magazine. Jim also founded the ASTA’s Future Seed Executives initiative to encourage the personal and professional develop of the industry’s next generation of leaders. Jim and his wife, Jen, live in Platteville, WI. Jim is an avid runner and Scrabble player and holds a BA in Public Relations from the University of Minnesota. He is currently pursuing an MS in Seed Technology and Business from Iowa State University. Matt Schweigert - Vice President, Schweigert Family FarmsWhile Matt now manages Schweigert Family Farms he rejoined Gro Alliance in 2006 with a focus on efficiency and improving operational performance. In Matt’s time with Gro Alliance he developed and implemented a bottle-neck management plan that more then doubled the seed corn bagging capacity of Gro Alliance. Matt also established a Quality Management System that tied together industry best practices with Gro Alliance’s employee expertise. The Gro Alliance QMS is now ISO: 9001 certified. In 2010 Matt brought his expertise in efficiency to Schweigert Family Farms. With such a diverse and ever-changing cropping strategy, Matt focuses on sustainably increasing productivity while maintaining a low impact on the environment and providing maximum flexibility for a variety of crop production strategies. Matt and his wife, Cassidy, live in Cuba City and are the proud parents of the fourth generation in Amelia Kay Schweigert. While Matt enjoys outdoor sports he is most looking forward to engaging his family in small town life and raising the next generation of Schweigerts. Matt holds a BS in Supply Chain Management from Arizona State University. |
